This New Year's we mixed it up a little bit and headed out of town. We usually stay in with friends, who ever's throwing the party, play games, fellowship, hang out, eat lost and have fun...
Not much changed...But instead we were invited to Portland and stayed with our good friend Margaret. Liz, Bryan, Nate, Brandi, and Emily also were there. The night began with dinner at this cheap but really good Mexican resturant downtown Pdx, then it was off for Swing Dancing---This was a blast, although it takes over an hour to get done with the lession, I was pooped afterwards. It was a fun just the same and our friends happen to be really good swing dancers.... Not to mention watching the uncoordinated ones who are always good for some entertainment of their own. :)
We ended the night at Margaret's with our tummy's and glasses full counting down the new year.
At the last second we decided to bang pots and pans outside....We stood on the poarch for about a min and I think must have woke up all the partypoopers on her block. My drum consisted of a tiny frying pan and a hand held can opener. :)--last second decision.
The next morning Margs wanted to walk, what she said was 3 blocks, to "Rump Spankers."
Yes you heard me right!! --The name alone used for good converstation...But instead we drove, for it was pooring down sideways rain and come to find out the place was closed. The amount of blocks was probably 6, not 3, so i'm glad there was no walking involved. Instead we ate at the Kennedy School McMinnimins for our first "official" breakfast of the New Year. I say this because we were shoveling food from 11:30-2am the night before. :)
If you've bever been swing dancing before I highly recommend you go. And if you've never been to the Kennedy School McMinnimins before...I also highly recommend that you go! It's very interesting old school from the early 1900's that has been renovated as a hotel, resturant and theater. It looks like the original school just that the classrooms are rooms and the gym/stage is the theater. To make this it's own, before opening/while renovating, McMinnimins hired artists to live there and paint for about 6 months. All original art around the campus...and very interesting.
All in all, our new years was good, but our second year of marriage (2008) was awesome! In that year we were able to take a trip to New York, trip to Mexico, witness friends getting married, meet new friends, say goodbye to old ones (no one died--- except for Grandpa Green and Grandpa McGlaughlin:( God Rest their Souls), buy a house and continue serving and living for our God. He's been so good to us this past year, as well as years past, and I wouldn't ask for a better life. This past Holiday was extra special, where presents weren't the main focus, but Christ and Family was. We got to see everyone we love, or at least hear from them in the past 3 weeks. ---I'm extremely happy, in love, excited, and blessed. :) May the Lord bless you too as you continue on in 2009.
